Linux UFPel Operating System (S.O.L.U.) was developed for Universidade Federal de Pelotas (Federal University of Pelotas), based on O.S. Desktop (GNOME version) operating system. The system has a simplified installation process, so that during this process the user is only asked about whether his data must be saved or not. Its installation requires an only 11MB CD-ROM, obtaining the rest of the files through network.

The system is configured with a centralized authentication process to better serve the needs of the institution's teachers and students, besides having all the necessary software included, so that it would not be necessary for the administrators to do manual interventions.
